The surname alone registered an old memory in Elisabeth's mind of impeccably dressed Kalosians at some event or another, undoubtedly one where her husband was feigning pleasantries with people whose money he hoped to earn. Rumors had swirled about that family as much as they had swirled around the one Elisabeth married into, the Bortifortes -- and of a similar nature, she'd noted.[break][break]

She wasn't a woman to put much stock in rumors, but rumors of cruelty? Those she'd learned to listen to.[break][break]

"Come in," she said coolly as her appointment arrived. "Close the door behind you."[break][break]

A single pink orchid flourished in a glass vase on her desk, curiously well-tended in a room that was otherwise minimalist and clean.[break][break]

Elisabeth Fiorelli! Oh this was going to be a fun conversation! To be called upon the queen of the thorns herself meet two things. Either she did something worthy of her acknowledgement or she was in deep trouble. The latter Mirabella doubted. She had been a loyal member of Team Rocket. She took time out of her schedule to keep with those dawn Christmas lightings for the party at the casino. If Mirabella was nervous about this meeting she didn't show walking into the underboss's office.

The Kalosian woman was nothing like she remembered. Elisabeth changed for better or worse. Maybe Wo-chen had really been blessed that allowed her to be her true self in a trusted sense of the world. She was envious of the woman for freedom something she never been able to get. Whatever! Mirabella closed the door feeling the tension and cold gaze of the blonde on the her.

"It's has to be important you wouldn't waste your time on a grunt if otherwise." Mirabella said be honest while choice her words carefully enough not to get in hot water. "I am guess this is about my past or something like that?"

Did her past with Remiel Calcifet or the "friendship" with Elise Calcifet slip so quickly? Dammit. With defector become a trend? Was her loyalty being questioned?

"More concerned with the present, as it happens," Elisabeth replied lightly, indicating for her visitor to take a seat.[break][break]

The defensive posture reflected discomfort with the ambiguity of their meeting, which admittedly, was intentional on Elisabeth's part. Allowing someone to guess at an underboss's motives left them unmoored, at a keen disadvantage in both power and comfort when meeting.[break][break]

"I presume you are familiar with the stance of Rocket towards Remiel Calcifet?" she asked, leaning forward onto her desk. "Or perhaps you might know him better as former Admin Fox?"[break][break]

The man had attempted to lure her to commit the same act of treason with him, in a hushed midnight conversation within these very headquarters.[break][break]

She'd known better. The question was, did Mirabella Fontaine know better, too?
